Andrew is a Provisional Psychologist, working with Thrive Psychology Wollongong since 2018. He has a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) from Deakin University, a Graduate Diploma in Psychology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology from Charles Sturt University.
Andrew previously spent 13 years working for a global shipping and logistics provider servicing the automotive, high and heavy and agricultural markets worldwide in IT Service Delivery and Project Management. During this time he completed his Bachelor of Art (Psychology), a Diploma in Project Management and gained accreditation as a Lifeline Telephone Crisis counsellor where he gained invaluable experience supporting people in crisis.
On completing his studies with Charles Sturt University in 2017 Andrew worked in Drug and Alcohol in residential support worker, counsellor and intake officer roles. In these roles he gained experience with clients with a dual diagnosis from diverse backgrounds implementing interventions drawing on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Schema Therapy. He has also worked in Child and Developmental Psychology administering the Baileys-III developmental assessment with 2 year children in a private practice.
Andrew’s natural curiosity and desire to help people is what has brought him to psychology. He has a keen interest in client centred interventions drawing on an eclectic framework of therapeutic interventions with the aim of building upon the client’s strengths. Andrew draws upon Person Centre Counselling and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy along with Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Andrew’s aim is to work with clients to remove the barriers limiting their sense of self efficacy and their reaching of personal goals.
